Spotlight on Nevada Child Care: Marcisa Greene of Cisa’s Zen Kids – A Holistic Approach to Early Childhood Development

Marcisa Greene has devoted over 20 years to the child care industry, beginning as a middle schooler assisting her grandmother's in-home daycare and later becoming an Assistant Director at a daycare in Long Beach. Today, she is the proud owner and director of Cisa’s Zen Kids, a group child care service that accommodates 12 children. Additionally, Marcisa is a participant in the Care Nevada program, which supports home-based child care providers in renting new properties to serve more children and families in Nevada. Her dedication and passion for nurturing young minds continue to make a significant impact on the community.

Why did you choose a profession in child care?

I chose to become a child care worker because I am deeply inspired by my grandmother, who owned a home daycare. Her dedication and passion for nurturing young minds left a lasting impression on me. Keeping the family legacy alive is important to me, and I am committed to continuing her legacy of providing a safe, loving, and stimulating environment for children.

What is one thing that makes your program unique?

My child care service is unique because it embraces a holistic approach, focusing not only on the intellectual development of children but also on their emotional, social, and physical well-being. Unlike traditional child care services, we integrate activities that promote mindfulness, creativity, and physical health, ensuring that every child receives comprehensive care and support tailored to their individual needs. This well-rounded approach helps children thrive in all aspects of their lives.

What is your favorite feature on the Wonderschool platform and how does it help you manage your business?

One of my favorite features of the Wonderschool app is its weekly invoice option. This feature streamlines the payment process, allowing me to avoid the discomfort of asking parents for payments directly, especially if a payment is late. The app's automated invoicing ensures timely and consistent payments, giving me the freedom to focus on providing quality care for the children.

How has working with Wonderschool supported your journey to licensing?

Working with Wonderschool to receive my child care license has been a tremendous benefit to my mental health. Having mentors who guide me through each step of the process has lifted a great deal of stress off my shoulders. Their willingness to share their knowledge and wisdom has provided me with a level of support I hadn't experienced before on my journey as a child care provider. This guidance has made me feel more confident and assured in my path forward.
