Our Teachers
Frenisha “Honee” Wiggins, Director Frenisha, “Honee” lovingly called by the children, graduated from Aquinas College of Michigan in 2020 with an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Bachelor’s degree. Frenisha has served children and families for 29 years under Head Start for Kent County. In 2022, she realized her dream of having her own in-home childcare program after the birth of her first grandchild. Her favorite thing about what she does is developing relationships with the children that she teaches and their families. She believes that a small class size and the development of a strong community allow her to really know each child as an individual and to provide a solid and supportive foundation in the early years.

Philosophy
At Honee’s Learning Child Care, I strive to create a safe and caring community of young explorers inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. Our program is a place where children can learn through doing, invent through making, and solve problems by working together. I believe that when children are truly engaged with their environment, magic happens. I do this by creating a space driven by the interests and ideas of the children who inhabit it.
Location
I live across the street from Sherwood Park Elementary School. I’m in a safe family community, and my next-door neighbor is a police officer.
About our program
At Honee’s Learning Child Care, we use the interests and ideas of the children as a jumping-off place. The materials are open-ended and invite discovery. Children make their own investigations and draw their own conclusions whenever possible. Honee’s Learning Child Care recognize that family partnerships are at the heart of any development of relationships among children and their caretaker. Being-so, once a month a device-free, family-style dinner will be served to all enrolled families. Field trips will take place randomly with a week or more notice prior to the field trip date.
