Application Process

Do we need to have leased a space upon application, or can we have a few options?
Can we get a copy of the new regulations for micro-facilities?
Will individuals have to be in a childcare desert to be selected?
Can you explain why only six applicants will be selected?
Can you submit more than one application?
Will applicants be selected from both rural and urban areas or is this program specifically geared towards serving the outer regions of Indiana?
How can I make my application stand out?

Eligibility

What type of license or registration do you need to hold in order to apply?
Are LLEPs eligible to apply?
If you started as unlicensed exempt and then became licensed, does that count for years of experience?
Do prior years operating as a registered ministry count toward the three-year experience requirement?
Can I transition my existing program into a micro-facility?
What kind of facilities can be used (e.g., homes, commercial spaces)? Can a library or other nontraditional space qualify as a micro-facility?

Facility and Operational Requirements

Does the facility need to be non-residential?
Can a micro-facility be opened in a home?
Can unused classrooms in your program's existing facility be used as micro facilities?
What about food service for the micro facility?
Are micro-facilities required to complete a state fire marshal inspection prior to opening? Are sprinklers sufficient for fire safety, or do rooms require direct outdoor exits?
Are there child to staff ratios for micro-facilities?
Will staffing requirements, such as a CDA or associate degree, apply?
What changes have been made to caregiver requirements under the micro-facility pilot? Are physicals, TB tests, background checks still required?
Are there specific hours that micro-facilities are required to operate?
Are other programs, aside from pilot awardees, able to use the micro-facility regulations to open their own micro-facilities?

Funding and Financial Considerations

Will awardees receive financial support from the state as a part of this pilot? If so, what can that funding be used for?
What will CCDF reimbursements rates look like for micro-facilities?
